Dr. Can Eken

Senior Advisor

Dr. Can Eken is an Associate Professor in Commercial Law at Durham Law School and Co-Director of the Durham International Dispute Resolution Institute. As a triple-qualified lawyer admitted to practise in California (USA), Turkiye, and England and Wales, he successfully bridges the gap between high-level academic research and complex cross-border legal practice. Dr Eken is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and sits as an arbitrator in international commercial and business disputes, featuring on the panels of leading global institutions including the LCIA, ICC United Kingdom, HKIAC, and DIAC. His extensive research portfolio focuses on international commercial arbitration, investment law, third-party funding, and dispute resolution in emerging sectors. Before joining academia, he practised law in Turkiye and has since provided expert consultancy to law firms globally. With numerous publications, including his recent book on third-party funding in investment arbitration, Dr Eken’s unique combination of multijurisdictional legal practice and rigorous academic insight makes him a pivotal asset to the Cambridge for Future training team in helping industries navigate complex European regulatory frameworks.
