About
Our Story
The Cambridge Sustainable Technologies Research and Development Centre is a newly established but deeply connected international hub, building upon decades of expertise in sustainability, technology, innovation, and executive education.
From its inception, the Centre has been guided and supported by Professor Alan Barrell, who serves as our Senior Advisor and long-standing mentor.
The Centre brings together respected academics and industry leaders to co-create projects spanning Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America.
Through this international synergy, we develop transformative learning models and applied research outputs that connect sustainability, innovation, and organisational development.
Our Strategy
Our research strategy is grounded in applied, impact-driven inquiry focused on sustainability, resilience, and ethical innovation across global markets. We generate actionable insights that support organisations in navigating complex transitions and building long-term strategic capacity.
We develop AI-enabled decision-support tools to inform sustainability strategies, policy evaluation, and organisational decision-making. Through cross-sector collaborations with leading universities and industry partners in the UK, Europe, and emerging regions, we advance rigorous, case-based research on carbon markets, reporting integrity, and institutional readiness.
Our work is complemented by thought leadership on future skills, workforce transformation, and sustainable economic systems. We translate research outcomes into executive briefings and policy insights for governments, businesses, and academic institutions, ensuring relevance, credibility, and real-world impact.
